Telluride Blues & Brews Teams with Sierra Nevada

To Produce Exclusive Festival Beer

Grand Tasting Held Saturday, September 18, 2010

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE – July 12, 2010 -- Telluride, CO – If you are a fan of beer and music, it’s time to rejoice and prepare for the 17th Annual Telluride Blues & Brews Festival, which will be held September 17-19, 2010.  For the first time in its 17 year history, Telluride Blues & Brews will be unveiling its own beer!

In conjunction with the Sierra Brewing Company, Steve Gumble, Festival Director, and Courtney McClary, Director of Marketing & Operations, will be heading to Chico, CA, on July 21, 2010, to attend the Sierra Nevada Brew Camp.  This is a singular opportunity for Telluride Blues & Brews.  Only one other festival has been invited by Sierra Nevada to attend the Beer Camp and brew a signature beer.

The Sierra Nevada Brew Camp will be an all-inclusive, hands-on, high-octane beer education bonanza for the Telluride Blues & Brews crew.  Gumble and McClary will spend two-days as honorary brewmasters and will receive VIP tours, tastings and sensory training.  In addition, they will meet with Sierra Nevada’s award-winning brewmasters to discuss beer styles and develop a recipe for a lighter style of Sierra Nevada, which will be available to festival goers all weekend.

For any beer lover, one of the highlights of the Telluride Blues & Brews Festival is The Grand Tasting, which will be held on Saturday, September 18, 2010, from Noon - 3:00 pm on festival grounds.  Featuring more than 150 beers from over 50 of the finest microbreweries in the country, the Grand Tasting is quickly becoming a favorite tasting event for beer aficionados.

During the Grand Tasting, all of the microbreweries compete in the Best of Fest competition.  Last year’s Best of Fest winner, Smuggler's Brewpub & Grille, beat the competition hands down with its Nutcracker Brew.  The Nutcracker was brewed in Telluride and was a collaboration between Smuggler’s Brewpub and Sweetwater Brewing in Atlanta, GA.

Throughout the weekend, get your fill of cream of the barrel brews at the House of Brews Tent.  The Telluride Blues & Brews Official Beer Sponsor, Sierra Nevada Brewing Company, along with Great Divide Brewing Co., Ska Brewing Company and Smuggler’s Brewpub & Grill, will all be serving their finest brews for festival goers.
